Mission Statement and Aims

CTRT Mission Statement

The Cancer Treatment and Research Trust (CTRT) is dedicated to improving lives through advanced medical and scientific research into the causes and treatment of cancer. Our primary focus is on the management of rare cancers not covered by other charities, developing kinder and more effective cancer treatments, and research into the monitoring and detection of cancers.

Improving Lives

CTRT Aims

To improve lives through research by developing kinder and more effective cancer treatments.

Our research

  • To offer funding directly to researchers, allowing us to move more quickly.
  • To fund research which has not been undertaken by any other charities and is applicable globally.
  • To help develop a new generation of diagnostic tests and tools (biomarkers) to aid decision making, helping patients to get to the right treatment at the right time.
  • To research why and how cancers develop, find better ways of monitoring and detecting cancers, and test new treatments.

For patients

  • To help patients to live longer through innovative research.
  • To reduce the need for chemotherapy to manage cancer in our patients, offering treatments with less side effects.
  • To manage patients’ treatment better and to improve the quality of their lives.
  • To fully treat cancers that were previously not easily treatable.
